Germs Are Living Among Us

Unfortunatly, the average person gives  little thought to germs on any given day. It is natural to ignore what we cannot see. But germs, which are defined as microorganisms which cause disease, should not be ignored. They can cause all kinds of manner of illnesses that can even lead to death.

It is useful to understand where germs live and the importance of killing germs. They live on or in humans and animals. They also live for a considerable time on anything we touch. The skin serves as a barrier to infection by germs and that is the role it was intended to serve. The skin is inhabited by all manner of germs. This includes even the most deadly of infectious agents such as Staphylococcus Aureus. The source of deadly flesh-eating infections is always present on our skin. This can be disconcerting but easily dealt with by regular hand washing and the use of hand sanitizers.

Keeping ourselves as clean as possible is the solution to preventing infections. And the most important way to deal with the germs which live on us and in our homes is to keep them off of our hands. We put our hands everywhere on our bodies. The face is constantly being scratched and rubbed. Hand sanitizer must be used to keep the germs from making it into our insides.

Hand sanitizers should be used regularly as well as habits of hand washing. Germs can migrate to the hands from the body and then to our eyes, nose, and mouth. Hands should be sanitized whenever one touches another person. The reason that we don’t have trouble with germs on our skin is that we’ve acquired immunity to them. But we don’t have immunity to germs that live on other people. Hand sanitizing after socializing is essential to good health.

And let’s not forget that systemic infections, such as colds and influenza, can be present on doorknobs, light switches, telephones, and other communal surfaces. Keep hand sanitizer near these common germ ridden surfaces for the convenience and health of anyone using them.

Germs also live in our plumbing. Washing hands with soap and water is considered a good way to keep clean but finishing the process with hand sanitizer will ensure that germs from the plumbing do not cause infection.
